The symphony toolkit operates at the eclipse level in java

It is very effective, it can integrate the symphony editors very tightly into notes8 or expeditor applications. (The notes 8 version of the toolkit that is, the toolkit for standalone symphony is much smaller and not very effective, they are not the same thing.)

Neither toolkit has much to say at the level of LotusScript but there is a COM interface and this can be used from LotusScript on windows. There is a simple example here: http://www.alanlepofsky.net/alepofsky/alanblog.nsf/dx/notes-view-to-symphony

This is not a simple API but it is possible to do a lot with it. What it is that you want to do specifically?
